DESIGNER GUIDELINES

In order to participate during the runway event, designers must understand and agree to adhere to the following guidelines:

Designer Registration MUST BE RECEIVED BY Monday, July 20, 2018. Selected designers will not be confirmed until a signed contract and full non-refundable designer fee are submitted. The designer fee for AFWCLT 2018 is $206 and should be paid online. An invoice and payment link will be sent to selected participants.
Designer selection is based on relevance of design and integration of African culture featured in respective work that is consistent with or complementary to the nature of the event with some exception. Each designer agrees to participate without any expectation of compensation for attendance or brand usage in advertising. Designer fee includes hair and makeup services for models and designers during the event. Designer fee includes promotion on event website and customized flyer. Each designer must provide brand logo and company URL link for placement. Designer fee includes backstage refreshments during event. Designer fee includes admission for one general admission guests. Guest names must be submitted by Friday, July 20. Names will not be taken day of.

Designer fee DOES NOT include travel, accommodation, and all other expenses associated with each individual brand.
Each designer is responsible for the supply and transport of his/her own items, materials, supplies (wireless internet cards, push pins, safety pins, irons/steamers, hangers, power cords, etc.), and apparel before, during, and after the show.
Due to spacing, each designer is allowed one (1) assistant/apprentice backstage. Assistants under the age of 16 are NOT permitted backstage. Each designer must work with booked AFWCLT models. If you would like to use your own models prior approval is required. Each designer agrees to showcase a minimum of 8 pieces. In the interest of time, the maximum number of pieces will be determined by the AFWCLT 2018 Design Team. Each designer agrees to attend the model fitting on the evening of Friday, August 10, 2018. Time/location: TBA.
AFWCLT 2017 producers reserve the right to decline and/or refuse the display/sale of any items/apparel that the AFWCLT 2018 Design Team deems inappropriate. This right of refusal can be exercised at any time up to and including the day of the event.
Late arrivals, no shows, or extreme lack of communication may result in dismissal from the event.
